    NeoNacho Because of the way the initial layoffs were structured. They’re all still employed until Jan 6th/Feb 6th (depending on state) because of the WARN act, just on paid leave. If they ignore a call-back, they can then be fired for cause — they’ve abandoned the job.

      NeoNacho Tl;dr: Right now, nobody is actually ‘laid off’ and getting paid severance, they all just have no job duties assigned. If Twitter wants to, they can assign job duties again — and fire anyone who doesn’t fulfill them.
