When the appeal of your brand is that it is *differentiated* from the corporate parent (for better or for worse) then making it look the same rarely works out for the best.

At a minimum you’re spending all the marketing dollars and branding effort trying to convince everyone the car “isn’t a Mercedes” instead of extolling what Smart is
