viditb That is kind of exactly what it is! The VW 1500 was a sedan built on a stretched and widened Beetle chassis. ‘Variant’ is just what VW calls their wagons (so this is a 1500 Variant, technically). Like a bus, it has the engine under the rear cargo floor. It’s a packaging marvel.
