irace Episodes have minimum lengths because of SAG contracts. If they’re too short they don’t count for union membership and/or coverage.

irace That was Quibi’s real ‘innovation’ by the way — their six-minute episodes (each basically a segment of a normal TV show between commercials) were too short to be eligible for union contracts. So they could be made using below-Union-minimum-wage labor.

irace I shouldn’t say SAG — this applies as much to the off-screen technical and creative labor as it does to the actors. The rules are all different but split between shorts and tv episodes.
