One thing that’s notable from DougDeMuro’s Ford Maverick video is just how artificially tall it really is. Ford has added at least four inches to the dashboard and front fascia height to make it look more ‘truck-like.’ And the roof is also comically tall, as in the Bronco Sport.

Increased frontal area decreases fuel economy — and this truck doesn’t have a particularly slippery cd. It’s also a massive contributor towards the deadliness for pedestrians which is an interesting choice to make for a truck ‘designed for urban dwellers.’

The Maverick also isn’t… small. It feels like the product folks pushed it up into the bottom end of the Ranger space in size (if not in price point). Ford should be trying to cannibalize the commercially-registered Fiat 500Xs, not their own mid-size truck.
