Boy do I have a great story for you. That upcoming iOS 13 “find your devices even when they’re offline” feature? It already works, and it works well.

I left my iPad on my flight yesterday. Whoops! Didn’t even notice until I got to my hotel in Rome. An hour from the airport. Well, shit. I flipped on ‘lost mode’ in Find My, but the iPad has no connectivity so the message won’t get through. Find My still shows my iPad at AMS.
-
I try calling the airline, but they say call the airport. The airport’s number is wrong. Even the hotel concierge is sent in loops on the airport’s phone system.
-
I drown my sorrows in spaghetti carbonara. Carbs fix most ailments, tbh. I figure I’ll never see it again. (Luckily, I’ve already saved up for a new iPad this fall, but this is still a major bummer.)
-
After dinner, I check Find My again and, lo and behold, my iPad has been located (just a few minutes earlier!) in FCO. A little comparison with the airport map shows that it’s right inside the Lost & Found office. This morning, I check again and it’s been located more accurately.

My sister (who is the best) swings by the Lost & Found office and picks it up for me (because she’s the best). Imagine how quickly things will get located once even 25% of iPhones are running iOS 13...

Sent from my iPad.
